MSc Leadership and Management
Develop your judgement as a manager, and learn how to lead a change when the information is incomplete and the next year cannot be assumed to look like this one.

This course is for professionals who already hold responsibility at work. It treats leadership and management as a discipline. You learn to read a situation, weigh evidence, and take a decision you can defend. Those are the basic skills of the role, taught to a high standard, and they are the complement to an AI-driven workplace: a system can draft the answer, and a leader still has to decide.

You enrol on one master's. After a shared core, you take the core award: complexity, risk and resilience, and the design of a transformation. The degree ends in a project on a live problem in your own organisation.

You will examine which decisions must remain with a manager, test a strategic option against what the organisation can do, and set an evidence standard for a decision, including what would prove it wrong.

Programme Delivery
The programme is delivered online over the duration of either one or two years depending upon time commitments (Full-Time or Part-Time). The programme consists of 180 credits divided into six modules of 20 credits and a capstone project of 60 credits. Our modules are delivered over weekends to ensure that students can work whilst studying, and are delivered through a mixture of lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops.

Shared modules, taken by every student:

Leadership Judgement and Practice (20 credits)
Competing accounts of leadership, power and followership, and which judgements in a hybrid human and machine setting must remain with a manager.
Strategy and Foresight (20 credits)
Strategic frames, the assumption each makes about the future, and a strategic option tested against resource and stakeholder constraints.
People and the Future of Work (20 credits)
How tasks, roles and employment models change when work is automated, and a people response that addresses skill, fairness and contract.
Evidence and Decisions (20 credits)
The quality and limits of management evidence, including output produced by a model, and the standard of evidence required before a decision is taken.
Award modules:
Complexity, Risk and Resilience (20 credits)
Complexity and systemic risk in an organisation or supply situation, and a preparedness measure that does not treat efficiency as a substitute for resilience.
Leading Change and Transformation (20 credits)
The drivers of and the resistance to a proposed change, a plan with governance and a business case, and the criteria by which impact will be judged.
Impact Project (60 credits)
An independent enquiry, to research-ethics standards, on a live leadership and management problem, written as a decision memorandum a sponsor could use.

Modules may change to reflect the development of the course. Any change will be communicated before you start.

Tailored Tuition
At Trafalgar Academy, student support is at the heart of our mission, ensuring every learner thrives in a truly personalised and engaging online environment. From day one, each student is assigned a dedicated personal tutor who provides ongoing guidance, mentorship, and tailored assistance throughout the course, fostering confidence, bridging knowledge gaps, and enhancing academic success—benefits that set us apart from the more impersonal structures of traditional online degrees at universities.
Our innovative programmes feature asynchronous lectures complemented by interactive online lesson packs for self-paced learning and progress checks, while scheduled contact time through seminars, workshops, tutorials, and supervisory meetings brings concepts to life via collaborative discussions, practical exercises, and peer interactions. This creates a vibrant, active learning ecosystem that empowers students to engage deeply and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.
Grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles—which promote multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression to accommodate diverse needs—and aligned with University College London's ABC Learning Design framework for rapid, activity-focused curriculum development, our approach exemplifies pedagogical excellence, making Trafalgar the ideal choice for those seeking exceptional support and a transformative educational experience.
